President Bush Visits the UAE

US President George W. Bush visited the United Arab Emirates on January 13th and 14th 2008. President Bush delivered the keynote address of his trip in Abu Dhabi.

UAE leadership meets with President Bush
President Bush met with government leaders including HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

President Bush previews new cultural center
President Bush previewed Abu Dhabi’s new cultural district, Saadiyat Island, which will host such institutions as the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the proposed Sheikh Zayed National Museum and a branch campus of New York University.

Abu Dhabi’s environmental plans praised
Calling it “an amazing experience,” President Bush reviewed Abu Dhabi’s plans for the world’s first zero-carbon, zero-waste, car-free city, to be known as Masdar City. Masdar is a multi-faceted, multi-billion dollar investment in renewable and alternative energy and clean technology.

US-UAE Business Council meets with President Bush, releases new study
Following a meeting with President Bush, the US-UAE Business Council released a new paper on the importance of the US-UAE economic relationship. It forecasts continued steady growth in bilateral trade and investment. To view a PDF of the complete report, click here.

President Bush participates in roundtable with young Arab leaders
In Dubai, President Bush met with a select group of young Arab leaders and praised the Emirate’s strong entrepreneurial spirit.
